Max is the CEO of CoinsPaid. His journey in crypto began in 2013 when he co-founded the Bitcoin Foundation in Ukraine, pioneering efforts to promote cryptocurrency adoption in the country. Max has experience in various blockchain projects, including mining, payment processing, and wallet development. He served as the Product Owner at CEX.IO, a global cryptocurrency ecosystem, before becoming the CEO of CoinsPaid in 2019. Max has won several recent industry awards, including “PayTech Leadership – Founder” at the PayTech Awards and “Best Visionary CEO in Crypto Payments” by Global Brands Magazine.


This lesson explores the critical role of regulation in financial markets and why cryptocurrencies pose a unique challenge. It’s a historical deep dive, going back to 1929 and the rise of regulatory systems like the SEC. From there, we’ll get into the challenges of classifying crypto assets – whether they are best seen as currencies, securities, or commodities – each with its own regulatory implications and limitations.
Going from history and principles back to the modern day, we’ll touch on EU’s comprehensive MiCA framework and different approaches to regulation in countries like the US, Japan, China, and El Salvador.
